Sir (ESV). Geoffrey Tochukwu Nnebedum Tabansi hails from Awlaw in Oji-River LGA, Enugu State, was born on 5th June, 1955 in Benue State. He grew up in Enugu, where he had his early education/life.
In 1978, He gained admission to Study Estate Management in the prestigious University of Nigeria (Enugu Campus). On Graduation in 1981/82 session, he passed out as the best graduating student in all the three (3) prizes in the Department –
- Departmental Prize for the Best Final Year Student in the Department of Estate Management, University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC) 1981/82 Session.
- A. Oluwatudimi Prize for Best Graduating Student in the Department of Estate Management, UNEC for 1981/82 Session.
- Sir Odumegwu Ojukwu Prize for the best Final Year Student in the Department of Estate Mangement, UNEC for 1981/82 Session.
Career Milestone
He was posted to Messrs. Ochnogor & Company at Mission Road, Benin City, the defunct Bendel State. In 1984, He was posted to Owerri Imo State, and appointed a Lands Officer, where he had the opportunity of growing in the profession of Estate Surveying and Valuation. In 1992, he was elected as an Associate member of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), in 1993 elected and registered as an Estate Surveyor and Valuer in the Estate Surveying and Registration Board of Nigeria, in 2004, he was elected as a Fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), his involvement in the NIESV was that of commitment, honesty, devotion and service;

In 2016 set-up “TABANSI CONSULTING” ESTATE SURVEYORS AND VALUERS an Estate Surveying and Valuation firm duly registered under the Estate Surveyors and Valuers Registration Board (ESVARBON). An Outfit which he was the Principal Consultant until his demise. During his time as the Principal Consultant of TABANSI CONSULTING, the firm grew in strength and expanded, with a vision of a knowledge- based practice and dedication to service delivery.
As a public servant rose to the height of his career in the Federal Civil Service and Retired as the Director of Acquisition & Compensation/Housing Development, after serving the country for thirty-two years (32yrs) in the defunct Federal Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development Mabushi, Abuja in 2015.
He played a critical and leading role in the expansion of the Lands Division to a full-fledged Department and now to the first Department in the Federal Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development to have three (3) substantive Directors of which he emerged one.

- Participant, the inaugural Conference on Land Policy in Africa organized by the AU Land Policy initiatives in Addis-Ababa, Ethiopia in 2014.
- Member, Committee on Development of the Utako Motor Park to a World Class Transportation Terminal in Line with the Abuja Master Plan set up by the Honourable Minister of State, Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The Committee selected Inter-City Transport Terminal Limited and Tak-Ista Structures Company Limited as first and second successful bidders respectively in 2013-2014
- In 2013, as a member of a 5-man Team visited Strafford City, East London, United Kingdom, Florida City and New York, United States of America, Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, Tehran and Shiraz, Iran, to carry out a Due-Diligence on the two successful bidders.
- Member, Committee on the Review of National Housing and Urban Development Policies in 2012.
- Expert Investigator on Land Administration and Public Land Management respectively for Country Assessment under the Land Governance Assessment Framework Study (LGAF) in Nigeria which was supported by the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), World Bank, as well as FAO, IFAD and UN Habitat aimed at Improving Land Sector Governance in Nigeria in 2011.
